The “Little White Lies” That You Need To Tell Yourself Everyday

Napoleon Hill writes extensively in his book, “Think and Grow Rich”, about his son Blair who was born without ears. In fact, extensive medical examinations later in his life proved beyond any doubt that the young man had no physical openings in his head that lead to his brain, and in theory should not hear at all. But as experience would prove, Blair was able to hear as well as anyone else even though he had no ears! The story is fascinating; and worth the time it will take to read or listen to it.

When young Blair was born, without natural ears, his father made a vow that he would never accept his son as a deaf mute. As Mr. Hill developed an intense desire to see his son lead a normal life, he found new and innovative ways to inspire the young man to join in this quest; that he would not only live a normal life, but that he would have certain advantages over his older brother who was born with ears. He would have advantages because people would pay him special attention because of his obivious infirmity, and that he would benefit from this special attention in many ways. In short, Napoleon was convinced his son would defy the laws of nature and hear; eventually! This epitomizes a core philosophy of “Think and Grow Rich”.

In some ways, you could ascert that these were ‘little white lies’! The fact is that Napoleon Hill had spent a lifetime teaching others that there are no obstacles that you cannot overcome if your desire to do so is strong enough; and that with enough faith you could accomplish anything you ever wanted! Up to this point, desire, faith, and accomplishment, along with the links that bound these together traits together, were only theories for Mr. Napoleon Hill. He had never proven them in his own life! If he failed to prove these ‘theories’ to his son, all these theories about desire, achievement, and accomplishment would be exposed as just lies.

To hear the rest of the story, and to understand the power of desire, you should read Napoleon Hill’s Classic work, Think and Grow Rich, or listen to the audio book. If you read it before, read it again! The point of this treatise is that we must speak those things that we desire into being before they will manifest into reality. Yet at the point at which we speak them, all these may appear as little white lies that we are telling ourselves just to feel better.

Dreams are the seedlings of reality; don’t stop dreaming!

For those who have read the bible, the scriptures also declare that “God speaks those things that are not, as though they are”. Don’t be too alarmed at my headline because if God does it, I believe that there are merits in this theory. Declaration is actually one of the foundations of faith! When we declare what we want and pursue it with deep desire and abandon, we set in motion a series of events that will take us to heights of achievements that we may not have known before! Our “little white lies” can become the seedling of achievement when we use them to give birth to our desires.

Begin the quest for a fuller, richer, more accomplished you.
